The ability to control the wind filter in camera raw directly within Lightroom is an interesting feature, but I feel like I’ve used that functions before in some way, perhaps having seen it in the previous iteration of the Lens Profile tool, and never having seen it before in camera raw. I would like to see Lightroom be able to mask off the lens profile and the wind filter as I’m processing the image. The idea that the filter could be edited in parallel with normal editing, but not separately, strikes me as strange.

Within Lightroom, there are a few new things. The first is the “Event” module, which was introduced in Lightroom 4. I’m happy that Lightroom 5 has made it official and added some functionality to it. I’m also happy to see that Lightroom 5 has added a “Neural” Filter, which is the same one that was introduced in CS6. It’s a great tool for repairing faces, removing blemishes, and removing noise; it “learns” automatically as it’s used, and can improve the results even more as it gains more experience. I’d like to see this filter incorporated more deeply into Lightroom 4’s image editing functions, which would at least make it easier for photographers to use it.

If you were using the “Adjustment” tool in Lightroom 4, you’ll be happy to hear that “Adjustment” is now a plugin, and is linked to the Color Module and the Lens Profile module, as described above. The Editing module has also been extended to now include a “Lens Correction” tool, which allows you to adjust and apply lens corrections. At this point, the Lens Correction functionality is new, but it could be further extended to add additional options and functionality.

Today, my colleague Tony Meale took the stage at Adobe MAX to preview some of the new features of Photoshop that have been in development for years, and his presentation made clear just how much we’ve learned – for one thing, we know that our customers want faster performance – and how we’ve been listening and responding to changes in their creative workflow. And this week, we’re excited to drive home just how much we’ve accomplished over the last year. So let me walk you through what we’ve been building.

LOS ANGELES — Today, Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced that the popular online video game Fortnite will use APNG as its in-game streaming scheme. The news is part of a larger effort to push the adoption of the APNG format, which is designed to capture the character and transparency of clip-based layouts. Support for the format allows developers to create and distribute APNGs via the internet on a variety of platforms. Today, Adobe is introducing APNG preview technology that allows web developers and 3rd-party developers to add APNG capabilities to their sites, apps or other technologies.

LOS ANGELES — At today’s Adobe MAX — the world’s largest creativity conference — Adobe announced that the company will be adding support for its royalty-free, standard, high resolution, highly efficient image format, WebP to its Creative Cloud desktop apps, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. WebP is the brand new name for the currently named and well-oiled compression format based on Google’s existing WebP specification. At launch, WebP will be supported in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, as well as all the other Creative Cloud desktop apps.

LOS ANGELES — Today at Adobe MAX — the world’s largest creativity conference — Adobe is announcing the release of Preview Technology, a new advanced technology that allows developers and designers to create ball and stick objects and stamps within Photoshop CC 2019 and later, enabling designers to quickly prototype, share and deliver their artwork online. Preview Technology will be released as a beta in the coming months and will be available now as a part of the Creative Cloud desktop apps.

With the new Direct Link, users can open a JPEG variant directly in Photoshop by copying the photo and pasting it to another workspace. Users are also able to easily edit any kind of web content with the new Change Content panel. Photoshop and Illustrator are now represented in a new and searchable view bar and new creative page layout, allowing users to find and access tools faster.

Video editing – With the new video editing feature, users can now edit any kind of file even faster. They can now sharpen, crop, add filters and even sync audio or video. The latest video editing features also support the latest browsers on the web. In addition to the camcorder-like features, the new Edit In-Place feature allows users to edit videos without leaving Photoshop, making it convenient for users to make changes instantly on the go.

• The ability to see who else has viewed and commented on the image while commenting. • The ability to comment directly on the image, or choose to email comments from within the Comments and Suggestions panel. • The ability to comment by email on the image or a link to the image. • The ability to change the order of comments. • The ability to see the Suggestion box and other suggestions at any point during the reviewing process. • The ability to comment on images that are shared privately with collaborators. • The ability to see who else has viewed or suggested a change. • A file history that allows you to view and revert comments and suggestions at any point in time. • New image layers that show comments and suggestions. • An Notepad-like annotation panel that allows users to annotate images by adding comments, notes, and drawing lines.
